As a plant breeding assistant at The Morton Arboretum, Andrew supports the Haerther Charitable Trust New Plant Development Program (NPDP) in the research and development of new plants for the developed landscape of the Chicago region.

Andrew’s work at the Arboretum is focused on developing disease and pest resistant cultivars, genome size and ploidy surveys, tissue culture, and inducing genetic variation through interspecific hybridization and mutagenesis.

As a breeding assistant in the NPDP, Andrew also supports Chicagoland Grows® through representation at trade shows and other professional events. Andrew also assists in the oversight of greenhouse and nursery production operations for the NPDP.
