Savannah Henderson brings her soil ecology research, management, and mentorship skills to her role as a research assistant in the Soil Ecology Research Group.

Henderson has valuable experience in soil ecology research both in the field and the laboratory. As an undergraduate, she joined a soil science laboratory, investigating microbial nitrogen cycling in agricultural systems. She helped collect and analyze data for the team and performed her own independent study project.

At the Arboretum, Henderson combines her soil ecology research skills with her management and mentorship experience to help coordinate soil ecology lab activities and carry out ongoing research projects.

Accomplishments

Henderson has worked as an environmental protection specialist with the Bureau of Land Management and as a community garden coordinator with Windy City Harvest, honing her skills as a teacher, manager, and community organizer. She holds a certificate in permaculture design.
