Sample locally crafted meads from across the Midwest, meet regional meadmakers, and learn how honey is turned into mead at the Mead Tasting on Sunday, August 30. The tasting takes place in the Arboretum’s Gerard T. Donnelly Grand Garden from noon to 3:00 p.m. and is offered as part of Honeybee Weekend.

While Honeybee Weekend is included with Arboretum general admission, ticket purchase is required for the Mead Tasting.

The Mead Tasting is for guests aged 21 and older.

Mead Tasting tickets include Arboretum general admission on Sunday, August 30, ten mead samples, and a Honeybee Weekend commemorative tasting glass.

Accessibility

Paved walkways throughout The Gerard T. Donnelly Grand Garden are accessible to wheelchairs and walkers.

Accessible restrooms are available in the nearby Visitor Center and West Pavilion. A large all-gender restroom with a changing table is also available in the West Pavilion.

Accessible parking spaces are available in parking lot P-1, an environmentally friendly parking lot with permeable concrete pavers. These pavers are uneven, but the accessible parking spaces and pathways from P-1 to the Grand Garden feature smooth pavers.

Manual wheelchairs are available for loan by visiting the Information Desk inside the Visitor Center, as are other aids for guests with special needs.
