April Is Arbor Month

Enjoy one-of-a-kind events that celebrate trees throughout April.

Content Detail

April is Arbor Month at The Morton Arboretum! Visit and take part in a monthlong celebration of trees and nature through special events, seasonal classes, wellness programs, and by enjoying the tree collections and gardens at the Arboretum.

April features two important holidays that call us all to appreciate and take action for nature—Earth Day on Wednesday, April 22, and Arbor Day on Saturday, April 25.

Throughout the month, the Arboretum hosts events and opportunities to get outside, connect with trees and nature, support important conservation work, and to step up and take action to build a healthier, greener, more beautiful world where people and trees thrive together.

April also marks the return of spring blooms, which explode across the Arboretum’s woodlands and gardens. Use the Arboretum’s weekly Spring Bloom Report to see where you can find colorful spring flowers throughout the season.

Visit The Morton Arboretum to explore its global tree collections and vibrant natural landscapes, and to take part in family-friendly events and engaging activities. You can save time in line and $2 per ticket when you buy Arboretum general admission online.

Accessibility

Accessible parking close to the Visitor Center is available in parking lot P-1, which features a permeable concrete paver system that allows rainwater to pass through. These pavers are uneven, but the accessible parking spaces and pathways from parking lot P-1 to the Visitor Center have smooth pavers. The distance from the furthest parking spot to the main entrance of the Visitor Center is one-quarter of a mile. Paved walkways throughout this area are accessible to wheelchairs and walkers.

There is also an accessible ramp in the drop-off circle outside the Visitor Center, next to parking lot P-1.

Manual wheelchairs are available for loan at the Information Desk inside the Visitor Center, as are other aids for guests with special needs, such as sensory packets.

Accessible restrooms in the Visitor Center are open until 5:00 p.m., in the West Pavilion until sunset, and in the Children’s Garden until 5:00 p.m.
