In the fall, the Arboretum’s Schulenberg Prairie is rich with color and life. As the grasses and wildflowers take on their rich hues of gold, red, purple, and more, the birds that call the prairie home prepare to settle in for the winter or to migrate.
Explore the beauty of the prairie in fall with Out in Nature, a local organization dedicated to providing an accessible, positive environment for all LGBTQ+ individuals to connect, explore, and experience nature and the outdoors.

Henry Adams (they/them) is a wildlife health ecologist, science educator, and illustrator currently living in Chicago, Illinois. Henry leads a research team that investigates the movement and health of urban black-crowned night-herons and spearheads various urban biodiversity monitoring and education initiatives through work at the Lincoln Park Zoo and in their community. They seek to use education, art, and intersectional ecological research to empower and create space for queer joy and community in nature.
