Learn how to transform common invasive plant species, including European buckthorn and honeysuckle, into natural inks and watercolors while exploring the science and ecology behind these plants.
Through hands-on activities, you’ll experiment with handmade inks, discover how modifiers influence color, create your own watercolor paints to take home, and gain practical guidance for identifying and effectively removing invasive species from the landscape.
All experience levels are welcome.

Mara Baker is an interdisciplinary artist and educator interested in the myriad ways we experience color. Her current work employs plant colorants foraged and cultivated in her dye garden. She received an MFA in Fiber from Cranbrook Academy of Art and a BFA in Painting and Drawing from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. College of Dupage, a nationally recognized community college serving the greater Chicago area.
