Learn to take beautiful nature photos in this one-day photography workshop for beginners at The Morton Arboretum.

With the lovely grounds of the Arboretum as your canvas, practice each skill with support from your instructor. This workshop is suitable for beginning photographers with DSLR, point-and-shoot, or smartphone cameras.

With a mix of classroom and practice time, students will build competency in foundational photography skills such as:

  • Choosing the right camera settings.
  • Creating compelling compositions.
  • Landscape and macro basics.
  • The use of natural light to enhance images.

This program meets in person at the Arboretum.

Dulcey is a published nature photographer and has been involved with The Morton Arboretum as both photographer and volunteer since 2008. She teaches online and in -person photography classes for Saguaro National Park and is an active member of Morton Arboretum Photographic Society.

What to Know

The program is held mostly outdoors. Please check the forecast and dress for the weather.

Wear sturdy, comfortable shoes, and be prepared to walk short distances on uneven terrain.

Bring your fully charged camera, a water bottle, and materials for taking notes.
