Full Moon Guided Hike

Hike the Arboretum under the light of a full moon.

Content Detail

As a naturalist guide leads you along moonlit trails at The Morton Arboretum, learn facts and lore about the moon, how animals are adapted for nighttime, and how they prepare for winter. Enjoy the magic of crisp winter air, the symphony of sounds, and hopefully some wildlife darting through the darkness. In this special opportunity to enjoy the Arboretum at night, you’ll be surprised by how much you can see in the dark.

This program meets in person at the Arboretum.

Claire Kaliski, research aide, The Morton Arboretum

Claire Kaliski is a research aide in The Morton Arboretum’s Soil Ecology Research Group. A graduate of Oberlin College with a degree in environmental studies, she first worked as a grounds crew aide in the Arboretum’s living collections, before moving to research. Kaliski holds a Midwest Ecological Prescription Burn Crew certificate from the Chicago Wilderness Alliance and has worked as an educator and in planting trees in the Chicago area. As an educator, she hopes that people will leave class having the skills, tools, and inspiration to keep learning. She works to support learners in observing and asking questions about the natural world, building connections between people who can be companions in learning, and most of all, inviting others to fall in love with the natural world.
