Upgrade your Destination Asia Festival experience by purchasing tickets to An Evening in Japan, an exclusive program of Japanese art, music, and cultural traditions held in The Morton Arboretum’s Ginkgo Room on Friday, July 31, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.

The evening’s program includes contemporary koto musical performances, a showcase of Japanese textiles and clothing, a Japanese whisky tasting, and a complementary sake spritz or nonalcoholic pineapple ginger spritz. Attendees will have the opportunity to view a historic nihonto (Japanese sword) from the Muromachi period, dating to approximately 1532–1555.

At 8:00 p.m., step outside to attend the Toro Nagashi lantern ceremony, or watch from the Ginkgo Room’s floor-to-ceiling windows as the lanterns are released onto Meadow Lake.

For an additional $12, purchase a lantern to decorate and release as part of the Toro Nagashi ceremony by adding it to your cart during your online to your ticket purchase. Supplies are limited.

Tickets include general admission to The Morton Arboretum to enjoy the Friday evening program of the Destination Asia Festival, entrance to An Evening with Japan in the Ginkgo Room, a complimentary sake spritz or pineapple ginger spritz, as well as a Japanese whisky tasting.

Accessibility

Parking

Accessible parking is available in parking lot P-1, which features a permeable concrete paver system that allows rainwater to pass through. These pavers are uneven, but the accessible parking spaces and pathways from parking lot P-1 to the Visitor Center have smooth pavers.

Accessibility Aids

Manual wheelchairs are available for loan by visiting the Information Desk inside the Visitor Center, as are other aids for guests with special needs.

Restrooms

There are accessible restrooms in the Visitor Center. A large all-gender restroom with a changing table is available in the Visitor Center’s West Pavilion, located across the breezeway from the main Visitor Center building.
