Jake Miesbauer, PhD, is the arboriculture research scientist at The Morton Arboretum’s Center for Tree Science, leading the Arboriculture Research Group.

His research focuses on tree pruning, tree biomechanics, and tree risk management to enhance the resilience and longevity of urban trees.

Before transitioning into research, he gained practical experience as a professional ISA Certified Arborist, which continues to inform his scientific work. His research provides valuable, science-based insights to arborists and urban foresters, contributing to the advancement of arboriculture practices across the tree care industry.

Accomplishments

Jake Miesbauer worked in tree care for several years before pursuing his doctorate at the University of Florida. He is an ISA Certified Arborist, has published several scientific articles on tree biomechanics, and has presented his research at many national and international conferences and symposia.
