The availability of bike rentals varies depending on the time of year.
- Bike rentals are available daily through Monday, September 1.
- After September 1, bike rentals are available on weekends only during the months of September and October.
- Rentals are not available from November through April.
Rental costs vary depending on the equipment rented and the length of the rental period.
Please note that rentals are available on a first come, first served basis, and may be delayed or canceled due to poor weather. Guests under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult to rent equipment.

Bike rental hours are 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., but may be delayed or canceled due to poor weather. Call 630-968-0074 after 8:30 a.m. on the day of your visit to ask about bike rental availability. The last rental start time is 3:00 p.m. The bike rental station is located just outside the main entrance to the Visitor Center on the Arboretum’s East Side.
Guests are welcome to bring their own bicycles to ride on paved roads at the Arboretum.
Bike racks are at the following locations:
- Visitor Center (parking lot P-1)
- Big Rock Visitor Station (parking lot P-13)
- Thornhill Education Center (parking lot P-21)
- Prairie Visitor Station (parking lot P-25)
