Plant Bingo

Play a round of plant-themed bingo for the chance to win and take home live plants.

Gather in The Morton Arboretum’s Ginkgo Room on Saturday, October 17, for an evening of Plant Bingo. Test your plant knowledge and play for the chance to win trees, flowers, and other plants to take home.

This event is for adults aged 21 and older.

Highlights

Ten rounds of bingo will be played, with three bingo cards in each round.

Purchase food and drinks from vendors, with a full-service bar available.

Attend a Seed Swap to trade seeds with other guests and bring home something new to grow.

Shop for plants and garden goods from local vendors.

Arrive early for a cocktail hour at 5:00 to shop, take part in the Seed Swap, and enjoy refreshments before bingo begins at 6:00 p.m.

Seed Swap

Attend a seed swap during the 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. cocktail hour to trade seeds with other guests and bring home something new to grow.

Guests are welcome to bring seeds from home to contribute to the swap, but you do not need to contribute seeds to participate. Seeds may be commercially packaged or collected from your own garden.

For easier browsing, seeds will be organized into categories like vegetables, herbs, flowers, and pollinator plants.

Although the swap does not operate on a strict seed-for-seed exchange, please take only what you reasonably expect to grow.

Seed envelopes and labeling materials will be available for seeds that need to be divided or repackaged.

Seed Swap Guidelines

Seeds should be clearly identified with the plant name and variety, as well as the year they were collected if they are from your garden. Please do not bring unidentified or mystery seeds.
Seeds should be dry, clean, and free of plant debris, insects, mold, or disease.
Opened commercial packets with seeds remaining are okay.
Please do not bring seeds from plants known or suspected to be invasive in the Chicago region.
Please do not bring seeds collected from the Arboretum, forest preserves, parks, or other public or private property without permission.
The Seed Swap is for seeds only. Please do not bring live plants, cuttings, soil, or other plant material.

Accessibility

Please note that bingo rounds will be verbally called and that live captioning will not be available.

Parking

Accessible parking is available in parking lot P-1, which features a permeable concrete paver system that allows rainwater to pass through. These pavers are uneven, but the accessible parking spaces and pathways from parking lot P-1 to the Visitor Center have smooth pavers.

Accessibility Aids

Manual wheelchairs are available for loan by visiting the Information Desk inside the Visitor Center, as are other aids for guests with special needs.

Restrooms

There are accessible restrooms in the Visitor Center, which is open until 8:00 p.m. A large all-gender restroom with a changing table is available in the Visitor Center’s West Pavilion, located across the breezeway from the main Visitor Center building.
