MISTER G at the Arboretum

On Sunday, September 15, The Morton Arboretum hosts Latin GRAMMY Award-winner MISTER G. The internationally touring author, musician, and educator will perform original songs from his popular children’s albums and highlight his Spanish-English bilingual book, Señorita Mariposa. MISTER G will be joined onstage by two fellow musicians for a performance in The Gerard T. Donnelly Grand Garden from 10:30 to 11:20 a.m.

Event Details

After the performance, all attendees are welcome to stay for a book and T-shirt signing in The Gerard T. Donnelly Grand Garden from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and a Young Author Q&A from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. in the Arboretum’s Administration and Research Center.

All four of MISTER G’s books are sold at The Arboretum Store and will be available to purchase at a merchandise tent in Arbor Court during the event.

Members-Only Breakfast with MISTER G

Arboretum members can meet MISTER G and enjoy an exclusive performance at the member preview event, Breakfast with MISTER G, from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. Please note that Breakfast with MISTER G is only open to Arboretum members, who must purchase tickets online in advance.

Señorita Mariposa Story Walk

Head to the Arboretum this fall for the Señorita Mariposa Story Walk, a family-friendly outdoor exhibition. Señorita Mariposa is a Spanish-English bilingual book by MISTER G that chronicles the extraordinary migration of a monarch butterfly from Canada to Mexico. From Sunday, September 15 through Thursday, October 31, the book’s gorgeously illustrated pages will be displayed on large-scale panels along Meadow Lake Trail.

Hispanic Heritage Month

Join The Morton Arboretum during Hispanic Heritage Month to celebrate the cultures, histories, and contributions of people whose ancestors came from Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. From September 15 to October 15, experience a variety of special events and programs highlighting Latino, Latina, and Latinx communities as well as partners in the Arboretum’s important work to protect and conserve threatened trees and ecosystems in Latin America.

At 10:30 a.m., MISTER G will be joined onstage by two fellow musicians for a performance in The Gerard T. Donnelly Grand Garden. The performance is open to the public and included with Arboretum general admission.

Young Author Q&A

Join MISTER G for a Young Author Q&A from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. The Q&A session is open to the public and included with Arboretum admission. The session will take place in the Cudahy Room in the Administration and Research Center. Due to limited space, online advance registration is recommended.

Breakfast with MISTER G

Arboretum members will have the chance to meet MISTER G and enjoy an exclusive performance at the member preview event, Breakfast with MISTER G, from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. The event will take place in the Ginkgo Room in the Visitor Center.

Advance ticket purchase is required for this event.

The ticket cost includes breakfast and meeting MISTER G. Books are not included with tickets to Breakfast with MISTER G, but may be added during the online ticket purchase process. Books will also be available to purchase at a merchandise tent in Arbor Court during the event and at The Arboretum Store.

Eggs, bacon, pancakes, muffins, fruit, juice and coffee will be served while kids engage in a butterfly-themed coloring project.

Attendees will meet MISTER G on a first-come-first-serve basis after arriving at the event.

Señorita Mariposa Story Walk

Señorita Mariposa, a Spanish-English bilingual book by MISTER G, chronicles the extraordinary migration of the monarch butterfly from Canada to Mexico. From September 15 through October 15, 2024, the book’s gorgeously illustrated pages will be displayed on large-scale panels along Meadow Lake Trail. The 0.6-mile paved accessible path loops around Meadow Lake.

The Señorita Mariposa Story Walk is open to the public and included with Arboretum admission.

Refreshments are available to purchase from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Ginkgo Restaurant and from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Ginkgo Café, both located in the Visitor Center on the Arboretum’s East Side.

From 8:30 to 10:00 a.m., Arboretum members can enjoy eggs, bacon, pancakes, muffins, fruit, juice and coffee at Breakfast with MISTER G, a member preview event featuring an exclusive performance and meet and greet with MISTER G.
