Scarecrow Trail

Admire creations from local scout troops and vote for your favorite scarecrow.

Content Detail

Stroll the path along Meadow Lake to see the friendly faces of nearly 50 scarecrows—each handmade by a local scout troop. Scarecrow viewing is included with admission to the Arboretum.

After walking the trail, cast your vote for your favorite scarecrow! Voting information is available around the trail and in the Visitor Center.

Registration and Participation

Viewing the scarecrows

Scarecrows will be displayed October 1 through 31 on the trail surrounding Meadow Lake. Scarecrow Trail is included in Arboretum admission. After walking the trail, cast your vote for your favorite scarecrow. Voting information is available around the trail and in the Visitor Center.

Prizes

First place prize is a guided program with the education department at The Morton Arboretum. You and your troop will select one of the Arboretum’s available youth group and scout guided adventures. Guided adventures can accommodate up to 25 scouts, and larger groups for a small fee.

Second place prize is a self-guided program through the education department at The Morton Arboretum. You and your troop will select one of the available youth group and scout self-guided adventures. Guided adventures can accommodate up to 25 scouts, and larger groups for a small fee.

Viewing the scarecrows is included with Arboretum admission. Participating Troops will receive complimentary admission to the Arboretum for their troop members to come back and visit the Scarecrow Trail on an individual basis.
