In week one, explore the garden features and plants that embody the woodland garden aesthetic. Learn about using layers, textures, and colors in a shady woodland area. In week two, apply your learning to your own yard. Bring pictures, plat of survey, or anything that might help you put together a quick sketch plan for yourself. Get tips and tricks for turning inspiration into a workable plan.

Vallari Talapatra has been teaching at the Arboretum since 1994. She has taught landscape design classes and conducted workshops on a variety of topics, such as woodland gardens, meditative gardens, and curb appeal. She has been the president of Eco Scapes, Inc. since 2000, and ten national publications have featured her projects.
