With the lovely grounds of the Arboretum as your canvas, practice each skill with support from your instructor. This workshop is suitable for beginning photographers with DSLR, point-and-shoot, or smartphone cameras.
With a mix of classroom and practice time, students will build competency in foundational photography skills such as:
- Choosing the right camera settings
- Creating compelling compositions
- Landscape and macro basics
- The use of natural light to enhance images

Dulcey Lima is a published nature photographer and has been involved with The Morton Arboretum as both a photographer and volunteer since 2008. She teaches online and in-person photography classes for Saguaro National Park and is an active member of The Morton Arboretum Photographic Society.
What to Know
This program takes place indoors and outdoors. Please dress for the weather.
This program is intended for beginners.
Bring your fully charged camera, water, and a sack lunch.
Dress for time spent outdoors, and be prepared to walk short distances on uneven terrain. Sunscreen and insect repellent may be useful.
