Mead—often called honey wine—is one of the oldest fermented beverages in the world. It’s made simply from honey, water, and yeast, yet capable of incredible variety and depth of flavor.
In this introductory workshop, you’ll learn the fundamentals of mead fermentation, ingredient selection, and flavor development.
Each participant will receive a one-gallon mead-making kit and ingredients to brew and customize a batch of mead at home. Participants must bring four to five pounds of honey to the first workshop meeting, or purchase honey during workshop registration for an additional cost of $50.
The workshop begins with an in-person session, followed by two live online sessions focused on fermentation and troubleshooting, and concludes with a final in-person session focused on bottling.
This program is open to all experience levels.

Greg Fischer is an experienced meadmaker with a passion for teaching others the craft of fermentation. With years of hands-on experience, he guides beginners and hobbyists alike through the process of creating high-quality mead at home, from ingredient selection to bottling and tasting.
