Introduction to Foodscaping

Select, grow, and maintain edible plants in your garden.

Content Detail

Edible landscaping—also known as foodscaping—combines both edible and ornamental plants for a garden that is both pretty to look at and healthy to eat from.

In this introductory course led by Arboretum horticulturist Kat Haberman, participants will explore various approaches to foodscaping in any setting, from large green spaces to containers for small gardens. Although this course will focus on seasonal garden plants, the instructor will also offer suggestions for perennial and fruit-bearing plants.

Participants will learn to:

  • Design and create an edible landscape
  • Select, grow, and maintain edible plants
  • Craft beautiful combinations using edible flowers, fruit, herbs, and vegetables

By the end of this class, you’ll have the skills to combine edible and ornamental plants for a garden that is both pretty to look at and healthy to eat from.
