Ecological gardening approaches include nurturing soil health, smart water usage in both dry and wet situations, choosing plants both for their aesthetic beauty and their value to wildlife, and implementing pest control practices that are safe for people and the environment.

Learn to create a beautiful, functional garden while reducing resources and costs, using proper maintenance techniques, integrated pest management practices, and using plants as problem solvers.

This program meets in person at the Arboretum.

Heather Prince, horticulturist

Heather Prince is a trained horticulturist specializing in trees, shrubs, and native plants. She has been a part of the green industry for more than 20 years in numerous facets from public to private. She currently balances a busy freelance writing and teaching schedule with her role as email marketing manager for The Garden of Words. She firmly believes anyone can garden and everyone will fall in love with plants given the chance.
