Cicadas Are Coming

Learn about this spring’s periodical cicada emergence from two experts at The Morton Arboretum.

Content Detail

The periodical cicadas are coming this spring, and their noise and numbers will make it a memorable May. Cicadas are fascinating creatures that are harmless to humans and pets, and they have evolved alongside this region’s trees for millions of years.

Fredric Miller, entomologist and Illinois forest health specialist and Beth Botts, garden writer and author of Illinois, Indiana & Ohio Month-by-Month Gardening: What to Do Each Month to Have a Beautiful Garden All Year, will join forces to discuss all the ins and outs of surviving the cicadas and protecting your young trees.

This program will arm you with knowledge to help you and your garden not only survive but thrive during this amazing natural phenomenon.
