In this intermediate program at The Morton Arboretum, explore watercolor techniques through demonstrations and practice time with support from a professional artist. Working with specimens from the grounds of The Morton Arboretum, students will explore the properties of different papers, review graphite techniques, and learn watercolor techniques to bring out details and the colors of autumn.
Students will be provided with a sampler of watercolors and paper to use for class.

Suzanne Wegener is a freelance artist specializing in natural history illustration and education in pencil, pen and ink, watercolor, and gouache. She has a degree in scientific illustration and teaches regularly in the Chicago area.
What to Know
This program meets indoors.
Please bring kneaded erasers with you. Some 2H, HB, and 2B graphite pencils, palette for paint samples, and brushes are available to borrow, but students may bring their own. Paint and paper will be provided.
This program is intended for intermediate to advanced students; foundational knowledge and skills are required.
