Please note: This program has been rescheduled for Friday, June 21, 2024.
Improve the appearance of your flowering perennials by learning how to prune them. It’s a common misconception that once planted, perennials will thrive with just watering and mulch. However, many perennials flop, grow too tall, or fade unless they are pruned. From early bloomers to fall favorites, many perennials benefit from seasonal pruning. Pruning improves the strength of plants to reduce flopping, maintains an appealing shape and size, and encourages robust, longer-lasting blooming.
In this gardening class at The Morton Arboretum, participants will learn which perennials benefit from pruning and the proper pruning techniques to use for different plants. Instructor Marcy Stewart-Pyziak will demonstrate these techniques on live plants in the classroom and on the Arboretum’s grounds. Take home these tips and keep your garden vibrant and attractive all season long.
This program meets in person at the Arboretum.
