Learn the foundations of drawing nature.

Begin your journey into nature art on the beautiful grounds of The Morton Arboretum. This comprehensive six-week drawing course designed for beginners uses natural materials for inspiration and will cover:

  • The basic supplies that new artists will find most useful
  • How to draw what you see
  • The importance of value and lighting
  • An introduction to composition, the color wheel, and other drawing fundamentals

Each session will include demonstrations, practice time, and one-on-one guidance in a friendly, supportive environment. All supplies are included.

This program meets in person at the Arboretum.

With a BS in ornamental horticulture and a lifetime of art classes, Kathy Steere was thrilled when she discovered botanical art. She is comfortable with different styles, many mediums, and assorted subject matter. She enjoys sharing her knowledge with others and believes that art should be fun!

What to Know

This program meets indoors.

No experience is necessary.

All supplies are included.

Please bring a pencil, an eraser, and an open mind.
