Winter Plant Identification

Discover the hidden details of plants in winter.

Content Detail

Learn to recognize native plants even when leaves and flowers are gone in a single-session workshop at The Morton Arboretum. Guided by an expert in plants of the Midwest region, you’ll explore the Schulenberg Prairie and nearby woodlands to practice identifying perennials and grasses in their dormant winter state.

Participants will learn to identify plants based on stems, seed heads, bark, and other subtle features, gaining confidence in observing the landscape and a deeper understanding of native plants through the seasons.

This program meets in person at the Arboretum.
