Hydrangeas 101

Get tips for choosing, planting, and caring for hydrangeas, a top choice among home gardeners.

Content Detail

Hydrangeas are long-blooming shrubs and have become one of the hottest must-have plants for your yard. Their big, beautiful blossoms, ease of planting, and decorative dried flower heads make hydrangeas a favorite for home landscapes. In this class, participants will

  • explore heirloom favorites and the hottest new cultivars,
  • discuss the siting, care, and pruning requirements of each of the five shrub species and two vines commonly planted in the Chicago area, and
  • head out to the gardens to experience each of the types up close and in person.

For the new and experienced gardener alike, hydrangeas are a thrilling addition to the home landscape.
