Bonsai Silhouette Show

View bonsai trees without leaves to appreciate their intricate branches.

Content Detail

Visit The Morton Arboretum on Saturday, February 22, and Sunday, February 23, for an inside look at the art of bonsai.

Presented by Prairie State Bonsai Society, the Bonsai Silhouette Show highlights the stunning forms and intricate branch structures of bonsai trees revealed through their seasonal changes.

At the Bonsai Silhouette Show, members of the Prairie State Bonsai Society will showcase varieties of deciduous bonsai trees that have lost their leaves for the winter, offering a rare view of the form and flow of each tree, crafted over time by the bonsai grower. Varieties of mature, expertly maintained coniferous bonsai trees will also be on display.

A special collection of trees in training will demonstrate how bonsai trees are developed and trained using wiring and pruning techniques that have been perfected over the centuries.
