Community Nursery Project Coordinator

Content Detail

As the community nursery project coordinator, Olivia Crossman is responsible for coordination of the Urban- and Community-Serving Nursery Project.

Crossman oversees community and stakeholder engagement, administrative duties for project components and working groups, and supporting the development of urban and community tree and nursery resources through the U.S. Forest Service’s National Reforestation, Nursery, and Genetic Resource (RNGR) Unit. She works closely with both ArbNet and the Chicago Region Trees Initiative, as well as a large and growing list of national- and community-level urban and community tree-focused organizations and stakeholders across the United States.

Crossman began at The Morton Arboretum in 2024 as project coordinator for Arborversity, the Arboretum’s e-learning platform. In that role she was key to partnership building and engagement, the organization and facilitation of horticulture training skills workshops, survey data analysis and visualization, and other parts of the IMLS-funded Arborversity Horticulture Training Program.

Previously, Crossman worked at the intersection of environmental and mindfulness education with The Kerulos Center for Nonviolence, where her passion for revitalizing the relationship between humans and the Earth first took root. At Kerulos, Crossman was primarily responsible for engaging a global community in diverse programming, and for ensuring that all operations and initiatives functioned in accordance with the organization’s unique mission and vision.
