Research and Materials Permit Request

Submit an online form to request access to The Morton Arboretum’s grounds or to materials from its living collections for purposes of research.

The Morton Arboretum advances tree and plant science, conservation, and education by offering access to its living collections and natural areas for research and educational purposes.

Those interested in accessing the living collections or natural areas for research purposes must complete an online permit request form.

To submit a request, complete the Research and Materials request form online.

In this form, provide details about the nature and purpose of your request, including the specific materials or collections you wish to access and your preferred timeline. You will also need to provide:

  • Your email address
  • Name of primary contact
  • Name of primary investigator

Once your form is submitted, an Arboretum staff member will contact you regarding your request in a timely manner.

Your application will be reviewed in light of availability or other considerations to ensure the health and preservation of the Arboretum’s living collections.

This process is intended for researchers, students, educators, and institutional representatives. Public visitors with general inquiries about the Arboretum’s collections are encouraged to contact Visitor Services by emailing trees@mortonarb.org.
