Content Detail

The Morton Arboretum’s Chicago Region Trees Initiative (CRTI) is offering a free tree planting tool kit for communities, organizations, municipalities, and other groups committed to planting and caring for trees.

A tool kit is available to anyone in a qualifying disadvantaged area that can make use of tree planting equipment and help expand or maintain the Chicago region green canopy. You can be an individual, community group, or nonprofit. We encourage anyone to apply. This grant is statewide and you may be eligible regardless of your proximity to the Chicagoland area.

After applying, CRTI will notify you on your qualification status and will coordinate a date and time for tool kit pickup. Applicants must agree to update CRTI after 6 months of using the tools.

Each tool kit includes:

  • 10 shovels
  • 5 hard rakes
  • 2 pickaxes
  • 10 pruners
  • 10 utility knives
  • 10 loppers
  • 5 soil knives
