Letter from the President and CEO
Dear Friends and Supporters,
For The Morton Arboretum, 2022 celebrated a century of planting and protecting trees for a greener, healthier, and more beautiful world. Through time the Arboretum has grown from Joy Morton’s vision into one of the world’s most impactful public gardens, known for its scientifically important collection of trees, relevant nature education programs, influential tree research, world-spanning conservation partnerships to safeguard trees, and its beautiful landscapes.
In its centennial year, the Arboretum opened The Gerard T. Donnelly Grand Garden, a spectacular new space to celebrate and experience the joy of plants. Thousands of trees were added to Chicago-area communities through the Centennial Tree Planting Initiative, and learners of all ages enjoyed more than one hundred centennial-related programs. These and many more impacts were made possible through your generous support as donors, members, guests, community partners, volunteers, and staff—the strong roots on which the Arboretum grows and flourishes.
The Morton Arboretum enters its second century with a strong sense of purpose and continuing commitment to benefit trees and people while partnering with communities and public gardens for a resilient future. Thank you for your continued partnership and support.
With gratitude,
