Reach your fitness goals with a competitive 10K race at The Morton Arboretum.

Lace up for a run at the Arboretum on Saturday, June 14, 2025, and enjoy the stunning scenery as spring gives way to summer. The USATF-certified 10K course follows the previous Champion of Trees 10K route through woodlands and living collections on the Arboretum’s East Side.

Whether casual or competitive, running events at The Morton Arboretum are a great way to enjoy the outdoors and connect with nature. The Firefly Race Series also features the Firefly 3K, a noncompetitive event open to all experience levels.

Event Details

Awards will be given to the top overall male, female, and nonbinary winners, as well as the top three male, female, and nonbinary winners in each age division.

Race participants receive free Arboretum admission on Saturday, June 14, to explore 1,700 acres, including the award-winning Children’s Garden.

Participants receive their choice of branded Firefly Race Series apparel.

Race results will be shared online via Athlinks.

Registration Details

Firefly Race Series registration opens Tuesday, March 11, 2025.

Register to run the race on the Arboretum’s 10K course, or participate virtually by completing the course distance at a location of your choosing and logging your results online.

Registration must be completed online through RunSignUp. Same-day on-site registration will not be available.

Virtual Participation

Support the Arboretum’s vision no matter when or where you run! As a virtual participant, you’ll complete the 10K course distance at a location of your choosing and log your results online via the Arboretum’s RunSignUp platform.

Virtual 10K participants may also complete the race distance on Arboretum grounds during the week preceding the on-site race, and will enjoy free Arboretum admission during that period.

Race packets and apparel will be sent to virtual participants via mail, free of charge.

Virtual participants will not be eligible for awards.

Race Packet Pickup and Mailing

Your race packet includes a Chronotrack race bib, safety pins, race apparel (if purchased), and spectator admission wristbands (if purchased).

Free pickup of your race packet prior to race day is available at Dick Pond Athletics in Lisle.

Virtual participants will receive their race packets and apparel via mail, free of charge.

Firefly Race Series Apparel

Race apparel items are available in a tapered or nontapered fit. Please note that children’s sizing is not available.

Details about Firefly Race Series apparel will be available close to the race date.

Firefly 10K Course Map

The Firefly 10K course follows the main paved road on the Arboretum’s East Side. The route features steeper grades than the Firefly 3K and hills that may be challenging for wheelchair users.

A 2025 Firefly 10K course map will be available closer to the race date.
