Explore nature through play and discovery in this drop-off program for children ages 3 to 5 years.

Content Detail

Search for signs of animals and learn how life adapts in this three-week drop-off program at The Morton Arboretum. Participants will engage with nature through play and discovery, and they will deepen their observation and inquiry skills over the course of the program.

This program meets in person at the Arboretum.

Kathryn Neuffer, supervisor of early childhood programs, The Morton Arboretum

Kathryn Neuffer has a background in early childhood and special education. She enjoys introducing the Arboretum’s youngest visitors to the wonders of the outdoors and helping to increase children’s curiosity toward the natural world through play and hands-on experiences.

Retta Hennessy, early childhood program assistant, The Morton Arboretum

Retta Hennessy has been on staff at the Children’s Garden at The Morton Arboretum since 2008. She is a long-time early childhood educator, with a master’s degree in education. She is also a Master Naturalist and the Arboretum has enabled her to share a love of teaching and nature with people of all ages. “I believe the Arboretum provides a path for everyone to experience the beauty and healing opportunities that nature offers.”

What to Know

This is a drop-off program held completely outdoors, weather permitting. Dress your young explorer for the weather.
