Get a behind-the-scenes look at the conceptualization, planning, and installation of the two-acre Grand Garden with its project leader, Susan Jacobson, head of site planning and design at The Morton Arboretum.
The program will begin with a presentation, showing the stages of the design process, discussing plant selection and hardscaping, and considering the ways in which visitors interact with the lushly planted garden rooms. After the presentation, head outside for a tour of the Grand Garden, where Susan Jacobson will highlight features in the three main spaces—Centennial Plaza, the Celebration Garden, and the Joy of Plants Garden.
Landscape designers, home gardeners, and Arboretum lovers will enjoy seeing what goes into the creation of a magnificent, large-scale garden.
Come prepared to spend time walking outdoors on paved surfaces.
