Throughout this three-week online course, Kasey Eaves, owner of Vivant Gardening Services, will teach new gardeners how to start their own vegetable garden and equip them with the knowledge needed to successfully grow vegetables at home.

By the end of the course, you’ll have the skills you need to plant and care for your new edible garden:

  • Finding a location where your new garden can thrive
  • Preparing the site for planting
  • Determining the best time of year to start your vegetable garden
  • Selecting plants that are suited for your garden site, gardening skills, and personal tastes
  • Caring for your plants throughout the year
  • Identifying and solving common problems such as those caused by pests, over or underwatering, sun exposure, and soil issues

Open to new gardeners and seasoned green thumbs alike, this overview of gardening for the home kitchen will leave you excited for the summer’s bounty and eager to plant.

Kasey Bersett Eaves started growing edibles and her treasured sunflowers at age two on her family’s farm property in Southern Illinois. Now, as owner of Vivant Gardening Services, she spends her days making gardening approachable to area residents, restaurants, schools, and more. She encourages using edibles, natives, and pollinator plants, even in a city’s unusual spaces. She loves finding creative and easily maintained growing solutions for city dwellers.
