Learn methods for propagating your favorite native plants in the late winter and prepare for early spring. Learn which seeds should be sown in the fall or spring, and learn seed starting techniques. Discuss seed storage, learn which seeds will need cold to germinate, practice identifying and collecting seeds, and more.

Luke Dahlberg has done propagation of native plants and native seed collection for Citizens for Conservation and Lake County Forest Preserve since 2018. He works to grow rare native plants and reintroduce them into the wild. He has a bachelor’s degree in ornamental horticulture with a business emphasis from the University of Wisconsin–Platteville. He has had over a decade of experience in the commercial nursery trade; his passion for growing plants started as a kid in his backyard.
What to Know
This program is held indoors and outdoors.
Please bring a pair of hand pruners if you have them. A limited number will be provided in class for those who do not have their own pruners.
