How can you do more for pollinators and help prevent wildlife decline with your patch of earth? Maybe you’ve seen wonderful examples like the Lurie Garden or the landscape around The Morton Arboretum’s Meadow Lake, but worry that attempting to create a meadow garden at home will result in a weedy mess.
Join us for a workshop on creating and sustaining a meadow garden that looks beautiful and provides food for pollinators!
In this single-session course, we will discuss the care of meadow plantings in the classroom and then stroll around the Arboretum’s Meadow Lake to see meadow planting in action.
Students will learn about:
- Design principles for contemporary meadow gardens.
- Selecting the ideal wildflowers, grasses, and perennials.
- Low-maintenance meadow gardening techniques.
- Year-round care and meadow restoration.
- Eco-conscious practices for a sustainable meadow.
This program meets in person at the Arboretum.
