Bring Your Own Project: Fiber Arts

Bring your yarn and tools to The Morton Arboretum for a BYOP, Bring Your Own Project session.

Content Detail

Calling all fiber arts enthusiasts! Do you like knitting, crocheting, and weaving in a social setting? Bring your materials and tools to The Morton Arboretum for a BYOP, Bring Your Own Project session.

Participants will join other enthusiasts to work on their own fiber art projects. With the support of one another, along with two skilled crochet and knitting instructors, beginners and beyond will be able to work on their projects in a fun and encouraging environment. While all skill levels are welcome, only informal instruction will be provided, so having some basic knowledge is encouraged.

This program meets in person at the Arboretum.

Instructors

Dave Hodge, fiber artist

Dave Hodge has worked with a variety of fiber arts over several decades. Starting when he was young, he made latch hook rugs and his grandmother showed him the basics of crochet. From there he went on to do cross-stitch and needlework in college. In the past 10 years he has focused on knitting and has returned to crocheting. He currently teaches classes at String Theory Yarn Company in Glen Ellyn.

Lauren Incrocci, knitter

Lauren Incrocci is a self-taught knitter who first picked up needles at 10 years old. She finds a sense of calm and focus while knitting. She is also an adult learning coordinator at The Morton Arboretum, where she is excited to further explore the connections between people, nature, wellness, and crafting to find ways to use tradition to enrich our modern lifestyle.
