Beyond Arborvitae: Creative Screening Solutions (in person)

Create privacy in your outdoor spaces this summer. Many of us want to screen a part of our garden or yard from the neighbors.

Content Detail

Create privacy in your outdoor spaces this summer. Many of us want to screen a part of our garden or yard from the neighbors. While arborvitae is a favorite traditional hedging evergreen, there are many more options to enliven your space. In this class, we will:

  • explore a variety of evergreen and deciduous plants that offer a buffer.
  • cover options for all types of spaces and conditions, whether you’re dealing with tight spaces, sunny spots, or shady areas.
  • discuss the care and siting needs of each plant.
  • find out how using plants as screening can be beneficial for you as well as birds, bees, and butterflies.

After the lecture, plan on going outside to visit examples on the Arboretum grounds.

Come prepared to spend time walking outdoors on paved surfaces.
