The Animals of the Chinese Zodiac: Year of the Dragon

Learn about the history and meaning of the Chinese zodiac.

Content Detail

Join cultural educator Yvonne Wolfe in this class at The Morton Arboretum for an exploration of the Chinese zodiac in the Year of the Dragon.

Based on observations of the natural world, the Chinese zodiac provides guidance for life. Following an annual cycle, represented by twelve animals, people born under a particular animal’s sign are thought to embody many of that animal’s characteristics, both positive and negative. The characteristics of the zodiac’s twelve animals are meant to inspire and encourage positive qualities in people. The twelve zodiac animals measure time, compatibility for marriage, compatibility with a chosen occupation, and many more areas in one’s life.

Your Chinese zodiac animal may have hidden qualities of which you were not aware. Come and learn about the Chinese zodiac history, meaning, and connection to nature. Find out why the Year of the Dragon in particular is such an important one, shaking up the population around the world.
