Code of Conduct
The Morton Arboretum is dedicated to fostering an inclusive, diverse, equitable, and accessible environment that is welcoming for all guests, volunteers, and staff and free of discrimination or harassment of any kind.
By visiting, you agree to abide by our code of conduct to treat other people and Arboretum property—including trees, grounds, and facilities—with respect and care.
The Arboretum reserves any and all rights permitted by law to respond to behavior or conduct that is contrary to this code. The Arboretum also reserves the right to determine what constitutes unacceptable, abusive, harassing, and/or discriminatory conduct, including the use of derogatory language or offensive symbols. Violating this code may result in denial of entry or removal from the grounds, revocation of membership, and/or prosecution under any and all applicable law.
Guest Admission Policy
While The Morton Arboretum welcomes visitors through ticketed admission and membership, all areas beyond public road access and exterior property boundaries remain private property. As such, the Arboretum reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to deny admission or revoke access to any individual whose behavior, stated intent, or presence may compromise the safety, operations, or mission-driven guest experience of the organization.
Admission may be denied, delayed, or revoked for individuals who:
- Engage in disruptive, threatening, or aggressive behavior
- Appear to be intoxicated or under the influence of drugs
- Refuse to comply with Arboretum policies or direction from staff
- Attempt to use the property for unapproved purposes, including protest, solicitation, or enforcement activity
- Provide false or misleading information about the purpose of their visit
- Otherwise pose a reasonable concern for disruption, interference with institutional activity, or diminished experience for other guests
All decisions regarding denial of entry or removal from the grounds will be made by Safety and Security personnel in consultation with senior management as appropriate.
