Japanese Floral Arranging: Ikebana Workshop

Capture the graceful curve of leaves and boughs, the delightful color of flowers or berries, and the lightness of a cloud through ikebana, the art of Japanese flower arranging.

Content Detail

Ikebana aims to express emotion and bring out the inner qualities of plants. Much like sculpture, arrangements are studies in color, line, form, and function.

In this hands-on ikebana workshop, your instructor will demonstrate several techniques from the Ohara School of Ikebana and then help you create your favorite version of a seasonal arrangement. All plant materials will be collected fresh from the Arboretum grounds. Each student will create an arrangement to take home. Please see the What to Know section for information about supplies to bring. Supply costs are separate from program registration fees.

This program meets in person at the Arboretum.
