Autumn in Graphite and Watercolor

Celebrate fall with your paintbrush and pencil.

Content Detail

In this intermediate watercolor class at The Morton Arboretum, work with graphite and add a touch of watercolor to bring out the colors of autumn.

Working with specimens from the grounds of the Arboretum, participants will review graphite techniques, then add watercolor to bring out details of their subject.

This workshop includes both instructor-led demonstrations and time for participants to practice with instructor support.

Students will be given a sampler of watercolors and paper to use for the class.

This program meets in person at the Arboretum.

Suzanne Wegener, botanical artist

Suzanne Wegener is a freelance artist specializing in natural history illustration and education in pencil, pen and ink, watercolor, and gouache. She has a degree in scientific illustration and teaches regularly in the Chicago area.

What to Know

This program meets indoors.

This is an intermediate or advanced program; foundational knowledge and skills are required.

Please bring kneaded erasers with you. Some 2H, HB, and 2B graphite pencils, palette for paint samples, and brushes are available to borrow, but students may bring their own. Paint and paper will be provided.
