Carl Austin Hament works directly with local government entities, such as municipalities and park districts, throughout Illinois. He strives to support community leadership with educational resources, technical assistance, and grant funding opportunities for urban forestry.
Hament’s urban forestry background comes from both Florida and Illinois across a number of sectors—university research, municipal work in urban parks, and land trust conservation. Included in his work has been invasive species management, prescribed fire, urban forest inventories and management plans, tree planting, tree pruning, education and outreach—often undertaken alongside partners and volunteers who make this work possible.
