Study the ecology of mushrooms and other fungi with Patrick Leacock, mycologist and adjunct curator at the Field Museum. Learn about the biology and ecology of fungi and walk the trails at the Arboretum to search for mushrooms. 

The workshop includes classroom sessions and field time; come prepared for time spent outdoors.

  • Please dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes for hiking.
  • Limited to 20 participants.

Patrick Leacock, PhD

Patrick Leacock, PhD, coordinates the Field Museum’s mycology programs, assessing local diversity and the effect of human disturbance on the distribution and diversity of fungi. His research focuses on the ecology and conservation of Basidiomycetes and the systematics of the mushroom genus Lactarius.
