Birds and Bourbon (21+) (in person)

Sip a bird-inspired bourbon cocktail as you learn about spring migration.

Content Detail

The month of May is the peak of the spring bird migration in Illinois. But migration isn’t ruled by a calendar, so how do birds know when it’s time to make their move? Every spring, 268 bird species show up in DuPage County, and each species is on its own timetable. Join expert birder Denis Kania for a cocktail at The Morton Arboretum (included in program fee) as you explore the abundance of spring migrating birds and the many factors that influence their migration.

Enjoy a rich collection of bird photography as you learn how weather, geographic corridors, and environmental conditions affect the timing of many seasonal species. Since environmental conditions are the one component that humans can influence, you’ll also go home with easy ways you can assist many birds on their perilous, seasonal journeys.

This program meets in person at the Arboretum.
