Fall Color Report: October 1

Autumn color is beginning to arrive in The Morton Arboretum’s landscape, although it has been slowed and muted by dry weather. In the tree collections and the wooded areas, red, orange, and yellow are beginning to appear among the green. Asters and gentians are in bloom in the understory of the woodlands and in the Schulenberg Prairie among the golden grasses.

The Fall Color Report is written by the Arboretum’s Manager of Plant Records, Ed Hedborn. It is typically published on Fridays through Autumn to give members and guests a chance to plan their weekend visits. The Arboretum also publishes a weekly Bloom Report in springtime.
