Fall Color Report: November 12, 2021

Trees at The Morton Arboretum are still cloaked in color as they prepare for winter, with many shades of gold woven through with highlights of wine-red and burgundy.

Among the best places to enjoy the trees before their color wanes are the Maple Collection (parking lots 7 and 14); the East Woods (parking lots 8 to 16), including trails leading from the Big Rock Visitor Station (Parking Lot 13); the Asian tree collections (parking lots 16 through 18); the area of the Thornhill Education Center with its gardens (Parking Lot 21); and the Schulenberg Prairie and nearby oak savanna (Parking Lot 25). The color is in its last few weeks, so be sure to visit soon.

About the Fall Color Report

The Fall Color Report is written by the Arboretum’s Manager of Plant Records, Ed Hedborn. It is typically published on Fridays through Autumn to give members and guests a chance to plan their weekend visits. The Arboretum also publishes a weekly Bloom Report in springtime.
